On June 14-16, 2011, The GLOBE™ Series, which has taken place in Vancouver, Canada for the last 20 years, held its first biennial conference event in Latin America. This year’s event, held in San Jose, Costa Rica, was focused on accelerating the shift toward a low carbon economy.  Jim spoke and moderated in two sessions.

The Prince of Wales’s Business & Sustainability Programme took place on May 9-12, 2011, at the Inn at Serenbe in Altanta, Georgia.  The invitation only event is designed by the University of Cambridge’s Programme for Sustainable Leadership.  It features structured dialogue and debate, and is facilitated by sustainable development leaders and practitioners from business, academia and non-profits.  Jim Hartzfeld served as one of the core faculty members.

Jim Hartzfeld provided a keynote speech at DECON ’11 on May 16, 2011.  The event was sponsored by the Building Material Reuse Association (BMRA), and held at Yale University, under the auspices of the Center for Industrial Ecology, part of the School of Forestry and Environmental Sciences.  DECON ‘11 is the conference on deconstruction, building materials reuse, and construction and demolition debris (C&D) recycling.

Jim Hartzfeld participated in a panel at Atlanta’s Green Real Estate Summit event on February 16, 2011. Spearheaded by BOMA-Atlanta, the event focused on the various benefits of sustainable practices in the real estate industry, by creating a  forum for thought and discussion for real-estate owners, building engineers, property managers and company executives.
